The first Australian Netflix Original Comedy Special, Nanette is a stand-up set from Tasmania’s Hannah Gadsby, performed and filmed live at the Sydney Opera House.
Poignant and unflinching, the set grapples with issues such as mental health and homophobia, before turning on – and subverting – the comedic form itself.
The live show took home the trifecta of comedy accolades in 2017, winning Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Barry Award for Best Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and Best Comedy Performer at the Helpmann Awards – before playing an extended run in both London and New York. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with The New Yorker describing the show as “as uproariously funny as it is profoundly furious”.
