ELVIS

ELVIS may have left the building, but Baz Luhrmann brought him back for the ultimate encore performance and we were thrilled to play a key part in bringing this epic film to life. When ELVIS had its global premiere at Cannes Film Festival, it received a 12 minute standing ovation and with the colour, sound, storyline and a whole lot of hip shaking, it’s not hard to see why.

ELVIS is Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of Elvis Presley, from his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Australia’s Mandy Walker was engaged as DOP with the costumes and extravagance brought to life by Oscar-winning costume designer, Catherine Martin.

As the post house of choice for dailies, editorial, and picture post, The Post Lounge worked closely with Baz Luhrmann and his team over the 20 month project, from principal photography through to theatrical and home entertainment deliveries.

Work included: On set digital dailies, Avid rentals and support, remote workflow solutions for 4K grade and Avid editorial, conform and online, VFX I/O, 6.5K digital intermediate, 4K finishing and mastering, end credit roll, HDR, P3 & SDR deliverables, quality control. Our sibling company RESIN handled an exceptional package of VFX.

TPL’s Brisbane and Sydney studios handled online and colour work (DI), with dailies and editorial systems supported off-site on the Gold Coast, which included a custom-built 5.1 surround sound and 4K Projection Theatre, designed and installed by TPL’s creative technology team and partners. Theatrical and HDR screenings were made easy in our 50-seat 4K DI theatre in our Redfern studio.
